Meet Me

Welcome!
My name is Larry Davidson, but generally, people refer to me as Larry D. I’m so very happy that you are interested in getting to know a little about me. So, here we go!

I refer to myself as a photographic artist and here’s why. I view photography itself as a craft. By that I mean you really need to understand how cameras work, photographic equipment, lighting, and all the other things involved in creating photographs. Once you have mastered those things, then you can start to add the artistic elements for creativity. By adding artistic elements, it comes from studying artwork from the classic painters, portrait artists, and other artists. Then take what you’ve learned artistically and apply that to the craft of photography.

I have been dabbling in photography since 1980. It’s been an off-and-on affair for the last 40 years. I get really involved with photography for a few years, then get burned out and take a couple of years away from all things photographic. Though I mostly pursue photography as a serious hobby, I also spent 8 years as a self-employed professional portrait photographer. Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to be mentored by a couple of fantastic photographers. I’ve also taken photography courses and workshops. All of which have taken me on a wonderful journey that has gotten me to where I am today.

As far as my personal life, I have been so very blessed. I grew up with the most wonderful parents and two brothers in the world. I have also been blessed with my wife Larissa who truly is my better half. I have an absolutely terrific daughter who has given me the joy of experiencing being a grandfather.

Hobbies that I love include music, cooking (BBQ is my passion), homebrewing beer and wine, watching college football, and visiting with family and friends.
